BarnHaus, created for unforgettable memories

Wow, this is a good period, I’m posting another locale treasure lately. This time I found a Saxon barn house, called BarnHaus :), turned into a magical place. I adore those interiors where the owners have the courage to preserve an original idea, but still manage to renovate/re-build into something totally new and modern.

BarnHaus can be rented out for short stays, and it’s located in Jibert village, 1 hour from Brașov city. The property consists of 2 separate buildings: the House with 4 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and the Barn with 1 double bedroom, a large living room and a fully equipped kitchen. The place can be booked for min 2 nights and for max 12 persons. You will have the house to yourselves only, the owners are offsite, but reachable on phone. They have a no smoking and no shoes inside policy. Me, like this a lot 🙂 This means that the place will never get overcrowded and cleanness is a vital aspect of their business.

And now a few words about the design. I love the brownish, earthy tones of the interior design. The high ceilings along with the high fireplace gives a real cozy feeling to the place. The original beams kept in the living room show respect to the old times and Saxon traditions. The sitting area, the dining area and the wooden elements are all in a total harmony. I’m all in for the rattan lightings, those are some strong focal points of the place. I envy those people who are bold enough to have black furniture, this kitchen actually adds extra depth to the room. The brick walls here and there seem to be the red line of the property, as you can find those marvelous walls also in the bedrooms. The abundance natural light inside the house is simply beautiful, and the external fireplace is one of the most hygge spots of the property.

Nordic Easter decoration ideas

Finally, the long weekend is here. I was looking forward to it as in my country, Good Friday and the 1st Day of Easter (Monday) are public holidays. Yeah! I adore Christmas, but I prefer Easter over Xmas, holidays are nice, but somehow we’ve lost the essence (including me) of the beautiful December holiday by chasing gifts for the family and friends. Everything became so commercial. Easter is much simpler, eggs, bunnies, lamb roast, and that’s about it 🙂

Regardless of the holiday type, it’s important to get your home into the spirit of the holidays. Yes, I am the type who gets the Easter vibes by decorating our home with a lot of bunnies and eggs. To get you inspired, I collected a few Nordic decoration ideas, mostly simple DIY things, so you can create these if you get into the bunny mood. Let’s take a closer look.

#1 Easter Paper eggs

These paper eggs are simple and stylish almost everywhere in the house. You can find a tutorial on how to do this here or buy them from H&M Home 😉

#2 Egg candles

I love these candles for their minimalistic shape. There are many colors on the market, but I prefer pastel colors or white. If you live in Romania, you can buy these from here or from DM (physical shops, not online).

#3 Golden eggs and hand-made candles

This is a bit tricky, but not impossible to do it. It’s hard to find in my region this type of ultra-white egg, not sure why. But if you manage to find some, paint these in golden color and place them in a glass jar to let the color shine. The scented soy candles with natural Baltic amber stones can be found on Etsy.

#4 Mix and match different eggs

Buy all kinds of eggs, different colors, and sizes, and place them in a glass jar to boost the effect. You can paint them or let in their natural colors, either way, they will look gorgeous on the Easter festive table.

#5 Splodge patterns with black ink

This seems a bold idea, but I like it a lot. The same story, buy ultra-white eggs and use black ink to paint them. Try using a brush to get those stains effect.

#6 Wall or door wreath

This will require more creativity, but it’s not a complicated thing to do it. Buy wooden beads, black paper for the bunny, 2 wooden clothespins, and some greenery. You can hang it on your door or in the house almost anywhere, for sure it will look super nice.

#7 Black&white patterns with marker

This is such a simple idea, just take a black marker (preferable a water-resistant or permanent one) and some white eggs, and do some minimalistic patterns, like dots, lines, or points. When all these eggs get together, they will look so funny and minimalistic.

#8 Spring flowers in a glass pot

Last but not least, this is one of my decorations from last year 🙂 I got it as a present, and I was very pleased with it. Take a closer look to see that in the pot there is moss and the spring flowers are planted in this. It is a nice, natural way of bringing Spring into your home. You need 3 things: glass pot, moss, and flower bulbs. I love it for its transparency.

That’s it from me for this week. Feel free to come back next week when I’ll share another hygge Nordic interior.

For those who are celebrating Easter, I wish you Happy Easter Holidays!

Cabin ANNA, the perfect solution to be in sync with nature

It’s been one year since I launched my blog. In this time, I had the chance to show you some really nice interiors thanks to the generous people I contacted for allowing me to take a peek inside their homes. I’m more than grateful for this. Thank you for enriching my small blog with your beautiful interiors 🙂

This time I found a treasure in the real sense of the word. I feel that this cabin idea is in perfect sync with me and the way I feel about being in harmony with nature. No wonder why my husband and I bought a house next to the forest.

Cabin ANNA is an idea born out of a personal project of building a small garden house in the backyard of Caspar Schols’ mother, the Dutch designer, and architect who developed this cottage idea in 2016. Since then, this cabin has become a award winning architectural masterpiece winning The Project of the Year at the 2021 Architizer A+Awards’ Architecture. What makes this small cabin so special is that it’s built on a structure with two flexible shells as external walls, supported on rails. Depending on your mood or weather, you can move the shells as you like, either turning the bedroom into an outdoor terrace or a spa spot with a hot tub under the sky, or leaving the shells closed and enjoying the natural light coming in if the weather is chilly. What a genius idea to be in perfect sync with nature!

The ANNA Meet is a slightly different idea then the one from above, the ANNA Stay. This second model, the Meet, has 4 flexible shells allowing you to move 4 external walls as per your needs. This cabin is for family gatherings, small weddings, business meet-ups (if your company is aiming for a natural environment) or even office space. I would say it’s a perfect solution for all kind of group activities, being so close to nature it’s only a booster for your productivity and creativity.

If you are in The Netherlands and would like to try one of their cabins, you can book a stay on Holenberg.com by choosing one of the ANNA experiences. In case you would need more information on pricing, models, materials or transport, do not hesitate to contact the Cabin ANNA team here. For further pictures feel free to check their IG feed, I can assure you that it’s full of magical moments.

A one-room interior in neutral tones

I love simplicity, in every possible way, in fashion, in interior design, in people’s personality, basically everywhere where I can sense clear logic, basic values, and no sign of kitsch. When I was looking for inspiration for this blog post, it was my first instinct to choose this super simple, one-room Swedish apartment. It has everything that a person can need, it’s subtle, with neutral tones, and these all together give a calm vibe to the interior.

What particularly caught my attention is the coffee table, the floor (wow!), the abundant natural light, the minimalistic white kitchen cabinets from Nobilia, and the white tiles in the bathroom. I already mentioned a few times that I like how Nordic people design their bathrooms. They keep it as simple as possible but still super stylish and fresh. The color combination in this interior is the ultimate winner, the grey, the beige, the white, and the black go hand in hand together.

This apartment is 33.2 sqm, and it’s in the famous city of Gothenburg. It will be soon for sale, so if you are interested in getting an apartment in the birthplace of the Volvo cars, this is the city you need to be 😉

In the mood for Autumn

My blog posts are usually about interiors, but these days I got into the mood for colder days, and I thought maybe I share the tips that help me welcome autumn. There is no doubt that the fall is here, and it’s time to take out the blankets, candles, good books, and hot chocolate, and get ready for the long nights. I know that all the lifestyle websites and blogs are about this kind of tips; social media is full of fancy hygge pictures, with nice choco cups, holiday socks, crackling fireplaces, etc. But my list with the autumn tips is a more simple one, I would say even a minimalistic one, no hard time to get any of these things for a warmer mood. So let’s take a closer look at what helps me to be ready for the cold season.

#1 Using the harvest as decoration

My parents and parents-in-law’s garden is full of goodies, pumpkins in all shapes and colors, autumn flowers, dried flowers, fruits, corn, you name it. All these placed in the right corner and the right spot can create a magical mood for the fall. If you do not have a garden, just look around you, in the park, at the locale market, in the supermarkets you can find everywhere things that might be perfect for your home decoration.

#2 Filling up my tea supplies

Before you think I’m a tea person, let’s just be clear on the fact that I love my morning coffee. I drink one coffee, usually a latte macchiato, every morning, and I could not imagine the mornings without coffee. On the other hand, I prefer tea in the late afternoon or the evenings, I can go with almost any herbs, tastes, except instant tea, no offense, but I prefer boiling water and brewing dry leaves/flowers for my tea. My favorite tea is mint combined with green tea, but I always buy many other flavors too for having the luxury of choosing based on my mood.

#3 Preparing my favorite reading spot

Having a nice, hygge spot where a little bit of sunshine still can snick in during the winter is essential. Choose a sofa, an armchair, a day bed, anything that can work as a relaxation spot. If you follow my social media, you already know that I have this reading corner with a comfortable armchair and a reading lamp, so this is the place where I curl up during the long nights.

# 4 Buying all kind of candles

This is not a habit only for the cold season, I always buy candles, all shapes, and almost all scents, to turn our nights into a simply magic night. It doesn’t cost you a fortune to get candles and light them up at night. It creates such a calm vibe, it smells good and it even gives a tiny bit of warmth. Actually, my husband loves it too, and believe if you check the dictionary for the definition of rationalism, his name will be next to it. The bee wax candles and the vintage candle holder (the small cup was a gift from them, thank you girl!) are from Philocaly.ro. Remember, you should not let any candle unattended while it’s lighted up!

#5 Getting a warm blanket

Last, but not least, a warm blanket never hurts while you are drinking your hot tea and absorbing the calmness of a candle. This one is from Zara Home, as the botanical pillow too. The Little Book of Hygge is a “nice to have” to make sure you know how to turn your home into a hygge interior, the book was purchased from the Book Express, a local business that I like a lot, keep doing what you are doing guys, you are great!

And before I leave, feel free to check out my Pinterest board called Country life, it’s a feast for the eyes, and it’s full of inspiration for simple living and getting into the mood of autumn. Stay tuned for the next blog post, as this weekend I’m going to share a nice Danish interior with a touch of colors.

Benita Larsson’s minimalistic world

Ok, I admit it, officially I became obsessed with Benita’s YouTube channel. I’ve discovered her wonderful, minimalistic world 2 weeks ago, and since then watching any of her videos is the most relaxing activity of the moment. She is an online marketing specialist (heh, no wonder why her social media channels have such a nice vibe) and a video content creator in her free time. Benita lives in Stockholm in a 2 rooms apartment with a small backyard that she turned into an urban jungle. Every 2nd Tuesday she shares a video about her everyday life, routines, her apartment, wardrobe, cleaning habits, and all this is focusing on Scandinavian, minimalistic principles.

Just a heads up, if you start watching her videos, you realize that your home is full of crap, and you should start decluttering right away. Without any exaggeration, Benita’s videos can be with therapeutic effects, suddenly you understand that you have way too many things in your home, and you could be just fine with only the 20% of the stuff you have right now.

Below you can find a nice tour of her minimalistic home, explaining why white color is so common in Scandinavian homes.

She also has an Amazon shop where you can find her favorite products and things she purchased or has in her apartment. If you see something you like in her videos, feel free to check this page, and most certainly you’ll find the item. Just as I did, I saw in her fridge organizing video the roller for face, and I bought one for myself. It’s already in the fridge, cooling down, and it’s so great to roll it over my face on these hot summer days. Love it!
