Five reasons why I’ve chosen this Polish interior

The weekend is almost ending now (writing this article on a Sunday evening), and it’s time to share another beautiful interior before it takes an end (damned Mondays). This week’s home is exceptional because it’s not in the Nordic countries, but still, it’s a total feast for the eyes. I’m happy that our trips on my blog take us now to Poland, as Justine’s home is in the Polish capital, Warsaw. I’ve been 2 times in this city, and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back there for the 3rd time.

I could enumerate many reasons why I’ve chosen her apartment for you, dear reader, but let’s see the most obvious ones.

#1 The Scandinavian style of the apartment

This interior has the Nordic hygge feeling and simplicity all over the place. This home has a gallery wall (that almost all Scandinavian homes do) mostly with pieces from Fine Little Day, it’s full of table-, floor-, and pendant lamps (this is a default in Nordic homes, lighting is vital for them), and the new meets the retro (pretty standard in Scandinavia). I always admire homes where the owners manage to combine old with new.
The white floor lamp is from Endon Lighting, the sofa is from the Polish manufacturer, Scandic Sofa.

#2 The classic Nordic design pieces here and there

I can spot a few original interior design pieces, especially from Nordic manufacturers. Justine has an Arum Ferm Living table lamp in the living room, a Shell Pot from Ferm Living on her coffee table, a Shorebird from Normann Copenhagen at the fireplace, her coffee table looks like a MUUTO piece, but not sure, a Muses Ania vase from Ferm Living on her desk (see below the photo), a PH5 Louis Poulsen pendant above her dining table in the kitchen.

The white sofa is from Sits Furniture.

#3 The earthy tones and beige color palette

You know me, I love everything in natural colors, you can’t go wrong with the earthy tones. I love the brown, the beige, the white, the orange, the black, and the few green spots here and there. What a great combination of colors across the whole apartment.

#4 Vintage pieces as focal points

Let’s hold on for a second for this beautiful red Smeg refrigerator. I wanted the very same for our kitchen, but it simply did not go through my husband’s “filters”. What a pity, we needed to change the whole color palette in our kitchen after renouncing this fridge.
The black&white floor adds a great vintage vibe to the kitchen. The floor and the Smeg masterpieces are bulletproof combos for getting some retro feeling in the room. I also adore the vintage desk in the bedroom made by Pastform. Look at those gorgeous glass pendants in the hallway, I wonder who is the manufacturer 🙂

#5 French chicness from the kitchen and the bathroom

In my humble opinion, the black and white floor tiles in the kitchen are extremely in French vogue. I rarely see this type of floor in my region, I wonder why people no longer like simple black&white tiles. The bathroom is a French chicness of the house where the retro free-standing tub takes all the attention. The shower faucet is from Domn w Retro, it’s from copper and it will nicely age with time.

The nightstands are from Zara Home, and the pendant above the bed is from Georges.

What a great home! I’m so grateful to Justine for letting me show you around her interior. If you would like to see more similar homes, feel free to click on the Vintage my love and Warm interiors tags to get to the archive of my blog.

A home with beautiful neutral tones

Sometimes I have the feeling that beautiful stories find me without me doing any effort. As you know, the majority of the interiors shared on my blog are the homes of some nice people who I don’t know personally, but who are more than kind to let me showing around their interiors. This is the case also with Hannah, and her story has touched me deeply when I was doing my research on her blog. It takes a great courage to talk to the world about your infertility struggling and adoption of a child. If you have time, pour yourself a cup of coffee and read their beautiful story about how they became a family with their daughter, Collette. Such a nice story of people with pure souls.

And now, let’s take a look inside Hannah’s home with super relaxed vibes, neutral colors, and lots of textures. No wonder why this home triggered my attention, as her style is a combination of many things I love, Scandinavian style with the Mediterranean and French countryside touches. Their inner pureness is reflected all over the place. Hannah is living in northern Alabama with her husband, Josh, and their daughter, Coco. They renovated the house where Josh grew up, turning it into a modern, relaxed interior.

Their home is full of natural decorations, neutral colors, rattan baskets, and greenery. I love how they managed to incorporate the Samsung Frame tv on their gallery wall. Degas’ painting The Dancing Class turns out to be the best choice for perfectly fitting the Tv in the gallery wall’s style.

They created this reading nook during the Covid quarantine, and it turned out super nicely with their vintage green book collection. I could hop in right away with a good book, although I’m pretty ok with my reading corner as well 😉

The natural light is flowing abundantly in their living room. If I would have to define the focal point of this room, I could not do it, but according to Hannah the book shelf is the center of attention. The chairs are slipcovered and can be washed, no wonder why this was important to them when choosing this light color. The Gabriel chairs are from Sixpenny, the sofa is the Portola Slipcovered sofa from Lulu and Georgia. I think the coffee table, the wooden stool and the Evet rug from Lulu and Georgia are the perfect combination to get to this neutral living room.

The Z11 Black Silk White Pendant is the absolute focal point in their bedroom. The walls are lime washed and Hannah has chosen the Bone color from the German Bauwerk Colour. By the way, they are shipping worldwide, so do not hesitate to contact them if you fell in love with something from their color palette.

This is one of the most stylish, small bathrooms I’ve ever seen. It’s simply perfect. Most certainly, Hannah knows that the Devil is into the details 🙂

Their entryway is in full sync with the rest of the house. This beautiful door is a Farmhouse Dutch door from Rustica. The bench with its super clean lines is from Maker & Moss.

What a lovely home with warm vibes! I’m grateful to Hannah for letting me/us inside her house, but I’m even more grateful for the fact that her story found me in this period of my life 🤍

A Parisian home tour at art gallery owner Fanny Saulay

My obsession with beautiful homes is not limited to Scandinavian interiors. When I see an English classic or a romantic French interior, I’ll fall in love just as fast as with a hygge Nordic nest. This week’s video home tour is about a beautiful Parisian apartment full of art, vintage furniture, and iconic design pieces. No wonder how the owner managed to have this magical combination of arts in her home, as Fanny Saulay is the owner, together with Olivia de Fayet, of the New Generation Art Gallery Wilo & Grove from Paris. These two ladies managed to take the concept of an art gallery up to another level, having the beautiful Wiloft showroom looking like a welcoming homey interior.

Fanny lives in this apartment located on the Ile de la Cité in the city center, together with her husband, Thomas, and their golden-retriever, Latte. Their eclectic home is full of iconic chairs, wall arts, vintage findings from flea markets, and a lot of custom-made, unique furniture. The Herringbone pattern of the parquet is an ultimate touch to the real Parisian vibe of the interior. I’ve never seen an apartment with so many famous chairs. Just as a heads up you will see the Orange slice chair by Pierre Paulin and the iconic Eames Lounge chair & ottoman by Charles & Ray Eames in the living room, the Plywood Group DCW chair by the same famous designer couple in the hallway and in the bedroom. In the same room you can spot a Coconut chair by George Nelson from 1955, and the dining table is surrounded by different Eames chairs by Vitra.

If you would like to see/buy some beauties from the art gallery owned by Fanny, feel free to check the Wilo & Grove online store, and in case you would like to read more about her home, here you have another great article by The Socialite Family.

An interior with eye-catching wallpapers and signs of patina

When I started following Jessica Lindberg on Instagram, it was around Christmas when everything was surrounded by magic. I remember clearly the first post I saw, it was a short video with her kitchen playing some French music in the background and the wood cracking at the fireplace. She and her family have 2 houses, one in Skåne County, the southernmost region of Sweden, and the other one in Norrbotten, the northernmost county or the country. What a great way of keep traveling across the whole of Sweden, I could imagine living in almost every corner of that country.

Jessica’s living room has multiple focal points, I could not decide which one I like the most. This huge Monstera deliciosa called also the Swiss cheese plant (love this name!) is all over the place, shining with its beauty and assuring the greenery feeling in the room. The chocolate brown sofas are another great piece, I’m not very into leather but these ones look great with their metal legs. Ikea has an ecological leather sofa too (maybe with a lighter color) that I like very much, I even used it in one of my projects. The ultimate focal point of this room it’s the Samsung Frame tv on the wall with always different art set on the screen…never ever assume that I wouldn’t spot a Frame television in a room.

What would be a room without a reading corner? This iconic Butterfly chair was purchased by Jessica in Morocco during a trip and bringing home from the far East. I adore the leaves’ graphic art on the wall, it looks so pure. I wonder from where this is.

Boom, double impact…two iconic pieces (above) on the same square meter, the white Carl-Johan lamp by Olsson & Jensen on the drawer and a PH 5 pendant by Luis Poulsen hanged above the vintage dining table. It is simply adorable how the patina is shining on this table.

Another great little spot in the kitchen area is this coffee corner that looks perfect for the morning coffees and the afternoon 5 o’clock teas. The Series7 black chair designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955, produced now by Fritz Hansen, and the white floor clock next to the window show respect to the history of interior design.

Look at that sage green candle, isn’t that a great detail in the bathroom?

I specifically love homes where I see courage combining new with old, showing patina of furniture’s and using iconic pieces of interior design history. Jessica has it all, and I’m so grateful to her for letting me showing you around.

La Belle Vue – a perfect place to start the summer

The summer is almost here so the La Belle Vue B&B is the perfect inspiration for the upcoming sunny days. This place is located in French, but the proud owners, Yvonne and Micke are from Sweden (heh, almost everything on this blog is from there). The house was originally built in 1857 by the wealthiest winegrowers, and in the cellar there is still the completely intact wine system with five large wine tanks. Can you imagine that? No wonder why you can book, along with your staying, for a wine making workshop. Beside this, there are plenty other activities, like yoga sessions, running week, bicycle tours that can be combined with your trip.

What I love the most, it’s that Yvonne and her husband tried to keep everything with in its original format and shape. You know that I love interiors that have a little bit of patina and reflect the time passed. They reconditioned carefully those pieces that were already in the house and they also purchased interior pieces from local flea markets, antic shops and old French ladies. Isn’t this fantastic? This way they managed to decorate each room differently. I guess the only common in the rooms is the comfort. Look at those walls and wallpapers. The floor tiles are the original ones, hand-made decades ago, of course reconditioned during the renovation.

Enough of me, I let you enjoy the French country side and the view to Spain from this great location.

In the dining room there is this vintage closet full of locale, hand-made treasures, all done by ladies. Not that I would be a feminist, but I think that promoting artisanal stuff locally produced adds an extra value to the things. I spotted the lamp shades. How about you, did anything captured your curiosity, or the chandelier took all your attention? It is definitely a strong focal point in this room.

They have an outside pool too next to the exterior summer kitchen, so if you are still hesitating to book a stay, I think this view can resolve your dilemma. You can find out more about this gorgeous location on their Instagram feed, a perfect inspiration for your next holiday 😉

Have a lovely weekend my friends!
