Finally, a Danish apartment on the blog

After many beautiful Swedish apartments shared on the blog, it is time for an interior from another Nordic country. If I need to pick my favorite place after Malmö, I think I would easily go with Copenhagen, no wonder why we’ve spent our honeymoon in Malmö with a short escape to the Danish capital back in September 2019. This is my first Danish apartment shown on the blog, so I was grateful to Line when she confirmed that I can use her photos. Line has a personal blog merimeri.dk, an Instagram account with daily posts, and she’s also the PR manager of 2 traveling IG accounts, no wonder how she can be so creative with her posts.

She is living in this apartment with her husband and their two little girls, Nola and Evi. This is one of the reasons why I’ve chosen her interior to show it on the blog. I think I mentioned before, that I love those families who have homes full of joy, calm and real signs that actually somebody is living there. Anyhow, let’s dig into what I like the most in their lovely home.

First things first, this gallery wall captured my attention instantly in their dining room. Many items on this wall are possibly from Papercollective, I particularly like the Matisse artworks. I’ve also spotted a Balustre table lamp that adds a cozy feeling to the windowsill. The Hay dining table is a perfect combination with the CH24 Wishbone chairs. This dining area is next to their kitchen that has a particular shape and I think they were super creative in terms of how to maximize the space.

Their living room is full of natural light, books, and iconic design decoration pieces. I see a Ferm Living Shell Pot and the famous Finish Wooden monkey by Kay Bojesen on their bookshelf. On the bamboo coffee table, a Lily Candlestick by Skultuna is shining in every sense of the world. Finally, I see a traditional drier too, such a lovely picture of their everyday life. I have a similar one, and it’s one of my favorite household pieces. On the floor, you can see baby Evi, the youngest member of the family.

As you probably know, Nordic people prepare themselves for the long nights during the winter. Hopping up on the windowsill with a hot coffee and a good book, it’s just an instinct of them. This one is a good idea of how to enfold a radiator elegantly and create a hygge corner for darker days.

Their bedroom corner is boosted up with a Ferm Living Pond mirror. The space below the bed is used as a storage space thanks to these very popular plastic boxes. If you are from my region, feel free to check these on Jysk.ro as you can find multiple sizes.

The lovely furniture for kids is from the Danish brand, Nofred, and the carpet with the dots is another beautiful piece from Ferm Living. The built-in shelf is a genius idea to gain more space in the room.

What an inspiring and lovely interior, thank you Line to letting us into your home!

Do not forget to come back around the weekend (pfuu, not again Zsuzsi, your parents-in-law are coming in the weekend, when are you going to have time to write another post on the blog? you’ve promised this article for the past weekend and today it’s Tuesday…rolling eyes) for another warm interior from northern Alabama. Yepp, you heard me well, I’m jumping to another continent, this is going wild 🙂

Fairytale Villa in Maramureș

It has been some time since I posted a local treasure on my blog. This week’s interior is from one of the most beautiful regions of Romania, Maramureș…, especially in the autumn. If you ever visit my country, make sure you visit Maramureș.

So the story of how I found this Fairytale Villa is simple. For Christmas in 2019, we gifted, my parents and my parents in law, a trip to this nice region having the accommodation arrangements in this villa. The plan was to go there in March 2020, but then the Coronavirus did its magical entrance and the rest you know, it’s history.

I was happy when the owners, Ana and Edina, the twin sisters, confirmed that I can share the photos on my blog, as I’m in love with the interior, no wonder why I’ve chosen this place for the family trip. The girls are renting out this place since 2016. The living room with its stove it’s simply magical in all seasons, the typical Romanian traditional style is combined with subtle Scandi elements and this gives such a nice vibe to the villa. Imagine having a glass of wine next to the crackling fire on a long winter night, or on a hot summer night. The traditional rug, the sitting area, and the ceramics, here and there, are exactly enough to create a hygge interior. The big windows allow natural light to flow in, but at the same time, you have a full view of the woodsy surroundings.

The kitchen is nest to the open space living room, having a dining area too. It’s fully equipped, so cooking a good meal has no boundaries here.

My favorite sport in the villa is the relaxation corner from the top floor. The rug is beyond beautiful. The traditional pillows and the duvet make you remember that you are in the Maramureș region.

Lake Friza is close to the place, it’s only 300-meter distance, so in a few mins walk you can have this gorgeous view or a good swim.

What a pity that we could not have that trip. Anyhow this place is bookmarked on my Airbnb maybe one day we’ll actually get there. If you like this place, do not hesitate to book a trip on Airbnb and send my greetings to the girls if you’ll meet them.

A 170qm German interior with Scandi vibes

This week, my friends, we are traveling away from the Scandinavian region. I found a beautiful interior in Hamburg with some Scandi vibes that turned into a “must-see” home to me. This 170 sqm home belongs to Anne Dirfard, an interior blogger and digital creator of the 170qm Instagram feed and 170QM blog.

I love the dark colors on some of the walls that add more depth to the rooms. The tiles in the kitchen are one of my favorites. These were very trendy in my region in the ’70-’80, especially that you could not find other models ;). Their vintage vibes are undeniable, and to be honest, I’m not sure why these are no longer popular here (I might have a hint, but that would be too rude to tell about on the blog). The dining areas in the kitchen and next to the living room (what a luxury, having two dining areas) are charming due to the mix of chairs, such a cool thing to use to add extra charm. In the living room, the sage green wall adds accent to the Tv area, and we all know how hard it is to design the proper Tv area. I’m not sure what is the focal point of the reading corner, the sage green armchair, or the Formakami pendant, up to you to decide on this.

Is there anything that captured your attention? There are so many in my opinion, that it’s hard to choose one, for example, the dark blue wall in the hallway, the powder pink sofa in the living room, the vintage closet, or the storage above the door in the kids’ room, or the minimalistic bedroom. The kids’ room is a winner to me. I love those children’s rooms that show creativity by adding original pieces, like this one having that nice vintage closet. Did you observe by any chance the glass cabinetry full of treasures? We have one too (I know I take shitty photos, my next project is to attend an interior photography course) in our kitchen, and this is where I keep all my loveable ceramics. So happy to have it 🙂

Hope you like the tour, I definitely do!

A lake house in a non-digital environment

For 3 weeks in a row, I continue to be in a holiday mood and dreaming about a countryside life. Last week’s treehouse made me realized how wonderful can simple things be. Sitting in front of my laptop all day due to my work, sometimes I aspire to non-digital environments, no social media, no nothing. And I think today’s interior would be a perfect match for this.

Only for 1-hour drive from Stockholm, in the region of Katrineholm Municipality, there is this tiny, magical lake house with basic facilities, no internet, household electricity available only with solar cells, no tap water or sewerage. The place is simply magical with its view to a lake, being in the middle of pure farmland without any neighbors. This interior is simply teaching you to spend time without any digital device or tool, take a book, a puzzle, a magazine…start having long night talks with your loved ones. 🙂

The living room has 3 windows with a lot of natural light coming in. During winter this stove is a perfect heating source, and it’s also a guarantee for a hygge feeling.

The kitchen is full of ceramic treasures exposed on the open shelving. It’s a real farmhouse kitchen that has recently been painted with linseed oil paint using olive and wheat gray colors.

Since there is no tap water in the lake house, the water supply inside the house is assured by these water tanks, which I found like some masterpieces from previous centuries. It seems that it can also serve as a cooler for freshwater during hot summers.

The stairs take you to the upper level where 2 bedrooms can be found. The attic is gorgeous thanks to the visible beams all over the place.

The view from this window is to the lake and sitting out in the summer, far from the noise of the city, can make you discover new sounds of nature during magical sunsets and starry nights.

This lake house is for sale, so if you are in Sweden, maybe close to Stockholm, do not hesitate to book a view at Historika Hem.

Care to see other summer holiday inspirations? Check out the Transylvania Loft Treehouse or La Belle Vue – a perfect place to start the summer articles. Going back to nature and spend some time without your mobile phone or laptop can be a real treat for your soul.

Transylvania Loft Treehouse

This week’s interior is something really special. I’ve always loved people or places with an original story, and I think this treehouse is beyond originality. The location is surrounded by pure nature, and everything encourages you to go back to the basics. However, this treehouse if a fully functional 1 bedroom interior combined with a kitchenette and a bathroom with a shower. I love the huge windows letting in the abundance of natural light, not to mention the fantastic view of the surroundings. The idea of living (even if it’s only for a few days) in a treehouse is über nice, you have the chance to try living in symbiosis with Mother Nature, to contemplate and to understand what’s important to get a hygge moment in a hygge interior.

The high ceilings painted into white give the impression of a spacious room. The dark window frames are great contrasts of the white interior. The comfy bed and the linens are the extras to make sure you feel at home in the middle of nature.

I think that we are lucky to have this kind of location in our region available for bookings. I was very thrilled also of The Hermit – a cabin in Gura Haitii, Suceava featured not so long time ago on the blog.

These days when we are working from home (or from anywhere where we have Wi-fi), I suddenly realized how great it would be to sit on this private deck, having my morning coffee and admiring the Retezat Mountains. I think I could get used to this.

The Transylvania Loft Treehouse is available on Airbnb for bookings, and Gabriela and Rareș have other great places too for renting, like the Transylvania Treehouse. They can also be found on Facebook so do not hesitate to contact them for a nice experience. If you are eager to visit Romania, this is the place you need to be.

A lovely Scandi home in the countryside

After a hectic week, it’s always super relaxing for me to write an article about an interior. I was happy when Viktoria confirmed that I may share her photos on my blog. It means another week with another lovely Nordic nest. The reason for opting for her home was the pieces that captured my attention. Of course, the refurnished treasures from the past. Her kitchen is a 100% Scandinavian kitchen with neutral cabinets, vintage details, and Nordic wallpaper.

This lovely home is in a village outside of Umeå, a relatively small city in Easter Sweden, known for its museums. Viktoria is a photographer, a digital content creator, and a collaborator (having her dedicated blog section) on the Lovelylife.se site. She is living in this house with her husband and their two children, Wilhelm and Julie. Her Instagram feed is full of great inspiration for interior design ideas and for life in the countryside. She even has a nice conservatory that worth checking her feed, not to mention the cute small rabbits

This pantry door is an original piece reconditioned and placed in a great focal point corner in the kitchen. It’s a perfect match with the wallpaper and the wooden walls.

I fell in love with this cabinetry instantly when I saw it. Its patina is irresistible. Vintage pieces add extra hygge feeling to an interior.

This is a Matisse pendant from Globen Lighting, recently purchased by Viktoria. It adds a delicate touch to the dining area next to the CH24 Wishbone chairs, another love of my life 😉 In my head, the concept of a chair starts and ends with this chair. Period.

The famous Pimpernel William Morris wallpaper, present in almost every Scandi home. If you ever want to buy quality wallpaper, do it from the Wallpaperdirect. These guys are great, they have a HUGE collection of wallpapers and although they are locate in the USA, they have a great support team who answers promptly to your questions. They even send samples if needed and they are shipping world wide. We’ve purchased our wallpaper from the bedroom from them, and I was very pleased with their services.

What a lovely interior, a perfect home tour that makes you cuddling up under a blanket with a hot tea and keep your eyes away from this rainy weather. Spring, where are you? I mean really, where? Where is your refreshing sunshine?
